If you’ve already started your search for the best kitchen soap dispensers, you’ve probably run into

If you’ve already started your search for the best kitchen soap dispensers, you’ve probably run into the many different styles available. When choosing one for your kitchen, the main features to consider are the dispenser’s material and design. Typically, the most common materials are stainless steel, glass, or plastic, but the right choice comes down to what best suits your lifestyle. For example, stainless steel is super durable, easy to clean, and won’t rust or corrode. However, it tends to be more expensive and may not fit your interior design aesthetic. Glass, on the other hand, is timeless and suitable for any kitchen, but it’s easy to break if you’re not careful. And plastic is more budget-friendly, though it won’t be as sturdy or feel as refined as other options. The design itself is also essential to consider before purchasing your dispenser. A simple standard pump is quick-to-use and won’t need much maintenance. More specialty options, like automatic, foaming, or built-in sink dispensers, require a little more maintenance, like batteries, special soap, or installation. Automatic soap dispensers are a no-touch option that&...

Ban on halogen lightbulbs to come into force from this weekend

A ban on selling halogen lightbulbs comes into force this weekend as part of a Europe-wide move to improve energy efficiency and cut carbon emissions. LED lightbulbs consume one fifth of the energy that halogen bulbs do and stopping their sale in the UK will prevent more than 15,000,000 tonnes of carbon emissions a year. They also have a relatively short lifespan of around 2,000 hours – approximately two years when used for around three hours per day. From September 1, retailers will no longer be allowed to replace stocks of the lightbulbs, encouraging people to choose LEDs or compact fluorescent (CFL) bulbs instead. The EU already banned less energy efficient incandescent light bulbs in 2009 and halogen GU10 spotlight bulbs in 2016. Halogen bulbs have stayed on the market until now because manufacturers argued that LEDs were not yet a viable replacement due to higher upfront costs, particularly for the brighter 60W to 100W-equivalent bulbs. Some specialist bulbs such as those used in ovens and cooker hoods are exempt from the ban because LED or other alternatives are not available or viable. Halogen lightbulbs are to be phased off shop shelves from this weekend as part of an E...

Friedrichshafen, Germany — Fakuma 2018 marks the first trade show where an injection press manufacturer has exhibited molding technology from Imflux, part of consumer products giant Procter & Gamble Co. Milacron Holdings Corp. is molding a technical part on an all-electric Elektron EVO 155 press running a four-cavity Imflux mold during the show, which opened Oct. 16. Two people from Imflux will be stationed at the machine all week to explain the process. Six Imflux employees are attending Fakuma 2018 in Friedrichshafen in what the P&G unit considers an important trade show debut. Imflux CEO Mary Wagner is also at the show. “It’s a seamless integration of Imflux in a molding machine,” Gene Altonen, Imflux chief technology officer said in an interview at Milacron’s booth Oct. 15, the day before Fakuma began. The injection press is equipped with Imflux software and pressure sensors inside the mold and nozzle. Imflux uses constant, low pressure to slowly fill the mold, while simultaneously packing the melt and cooling the mold. Imflux software, linked to sensors, controls the process. Traditional injection molding uses high pressure and high temperatu...

EL CAJON — There is a scene in the classic 1941 film, “Citizen Kane” where an exuberant millionaire playboy Kane (Orson Welles) exclaims, “I think it would be fun to run a newspaper.” The context here being that publishing a paper is nothing more than a simple diversion. In local terms, Robert Zakar, who was raised in a family of merchants and has successfully operated gas stations, grocery outlets and convenience stores, decided to take a left turn and delve into — well, for lack of a better term — the body transport business. “When people pass away, we will take the deceased to a hospital or funeral home,” Zakar said. “My brothers would handle the actual transportation, while I would do the marketing and accounting. “At first, I did not want anything to do with removing bodies, it seemed pretty creepy to me; but when I thought about it, I realized that it was about the loved ones left behind,” he said. “I fou...

Operating Room Integration Systems to Discern Steadfast Expansion During 2018-2026

Integrated operating rooms are designed to lessen the complexity of the most intricate environments inside a hospital, a private clinic, or a medical institute. Modern integrated operating rooms are equipped with a wide range of surgical equipment along with equipment management systems, medical printers, insufflation devices, surgical microscopes, surgical lights, cameras, large screen displays, and air management devices. An operating room integration system not only integrates equipment, but also functionally connects the operating room environment that includes patient information system, audio, video, surgical lights, operating tables, and building automation. When all these technologies are integrated, the various equipment are controlled by a single operator that may be a physician or a nurse. An operating room integration system offers several advantages over traditional non-integrated operating rooms. For instance, cables and wires that usually remain lying on the floor can run inside the articulating arms of the ceiling-mounted booms and lights. An operator can control several devices via a computer from one place that reduces undue navigation in the operating room; so...

Robotics and wrestling have a lot in common. Flexibility and reach are important to both. Robots

Robotics and wrestling have a lot in common. Flexibility and reach are important to both. Robots and wrestlers also have numerous categories that are based on different weight and payload capacities. The sumo wrestlers of the robotics world are high-payload robots. Those machines boast wide work envelopes and can handle heavy-duty loads. Today, more manufacturers are investing in giant six-axis robots to take on tasks that were previously performed by forklifts, hoists, lift-assist devices, overhead cranes and other types of material handling equipment. Big robots are especially popular with manufacturers of cast and forged metal parts. They’re also attractive to companies that need to move automotive floor pans, car bodies, rear-axle assemblies, large household appliances, tractors or other bulky objects, such as sections of airplanes, railcars and ships. Allied Market Research predicts that demand for super heavy payload robots will grow 4 percent annually between now and 2025. Those types of machines particularly appeal to automotive manufacturers for applications in body shops, foundries and engine or transmission assembly lines. A good example is Ford Motor Co.’s Michigan ...

How interfaith values support New York’s Reproductive Health Act

(RNS) — New York state just enacted the Reproductive Health Act (RHA), which updates and strengthens the right to choose an abortion in the state. High-profile criticism of the law has come principally from the Catholic Church, including calls for the state’s Catholic governor, Andrew Cuomo, to be excommunicated. Yet the law reflects the values shared by many pro-choice clergy and laypeople committed to Protestant, Jewish and Catholic beliefs. At the Religious Coalition for Reproductive Choice (RCRC), the largest national interfaith, abortion rights organization, we approach the highly personal reproductive decision-making process guided first and foremost by compassion. We acknowledge the complex, challenging and widely varying circumstances each woman confronts and the impact of these choices on her family. Our organization evolved from the pre-Roe Clergy Consultation Service (CCS), whose more than 1,000 interfaith members — ministers, rabbis and some priests and nuns — acted on conscience to defy abortion bans. Starting in 1967, they quietly offered women all-options pastoral care and, if requested, referrals to safe but illegal abortion providers. In New York, CCS members ha...
